Supporting you

The Group is a wholly separate, standalone volunteer-led charity (Charity number sc032273), affiliated with “Headway”- (the National Brain Injury Association), that aims to support all people in the Grampian area affected by Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), raising awareness of the condition and reducing the social isolation often experienced by people affected by ABI.

Membership of group is free and anyone involved with brain injury is welcome to join.

Our main aims are to :-

  • support carers and enable them to meet together to share experiences
  • involve those with a brain injury helping them to maximise their recovery.
  • reduce social isolation for the brain injured, family and carers.
  • support and sustain relationships between carers and cared for.

As a small local charity (registration number sc032273),we are always grateful to any voluntary organisations, businesses, grant aid funding organisations and of course the many individuals who donate and/or do charity sponsorship events on our behalf donating funds raised that help us continue to meet our aims & objectives. Thank you.

1. Megan Mackay fundraiser Link:-  Run for Ruairidh -Just Giving fundraiser for Brain Injury Grampian  -

A short message to the BIG Group received from Megan Mackay March 2025:-

Hi there,

I just wanted to get in touch to share a bit about my fundraising. I’m from Macduff, and in 2016, I sadly lost my twin brother, Ruairidh, after he sustained a serious head injury in an accident in Banff. He was in a coma for a week before passing away in Aberdeen Hospital.

On Sunday, 9th March, I ran the Inverness Half Marathon and chose to support Brain Injury Grampian. I wanted to contribute to a cause that helps those affected by brain injuries here in the Grampian area, and I’m really pleased to have raised £2,048.

I believe my JustGiving page closes this week, and once it does, the funds should transfer directly to your charity—I’ll double-check to confirm.  I also shared a little about Ruairidh on the page, as well as his strength and character.  -Thank you so much Megan from the bottom of our hearts, from all at group.
