- Every 90 seconds someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with a head injury.
- In the last year 20882 people in Scotland were admitted to hospital with a head injury. (includes all causes e.g. head injuries, strokes, tumors, menengitis etc...)
- Men are 1.5x more likely than females to be admitted for a head injury.
- The number of women admitted to hospital with a head injury has increased by circa 14.1% (in 2023/24), although this fluctuates both up and down somewhat and currently represents a fall from the peak rise of 21.2% (as observed in 2018/19), noting that both percentages stated above are compared to a base year record made in 2005/06.
